BREAKING: Obama Signs NDAA Bill, “Propaganda” Provision Ends Free Press

Merry Christmas, America. The Independent Media and First Amendment are under attack. Seriously.

The National Defense Authorization Act of 2016 had a deadline of December 26th. However, as predicted, President Obama makes one of his final moves as Commander-in-Chief by signing the military funding bill into law.

The budget set is $619 billion, which is $3b over the Congress’ proposed budget. Furthermore, the bill adds 23,000 more troops than what the White House wanted as well.

The now notorious NDAA has become something much more than just a military expenditure plan or budget. Like most systems that become tyrannical, the government is using it’s military as a means to push money into its programs to not only keep power, but to do what every declining empire does. Turn its weapons on its own citizens.

Using the term “independent media” itself when referencing the so-called ““Countering Foreign Propaganda and Disinformation Act,” President Obama said: “My administration strongly supports the bill’s structural reform of the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG), which streamlines BBG operations and reduces inefficiencies, while retaining the longstanding statutory firewall, protecting against interference with and maintaining the professional independence of the agency’s journalists and broadcasters and thus their credibility as sources of independent news and information.”

First introduced by Senator Rob Portman (R-Ohio), the bill was conveniently pushed into the NDAA, much like the very controversial measure that called for indefinite detention back in 2012.

The bill is nothing short of an Orwellian nightmare that turns journalism into a centralized shill factory. Referred to as the “Global Engagement Center,” the propaganda factory will push propaganda all over the world. While the US government “outlawed” subliminal messages in the past, a now dumbed-down public is more susceptible than ever to the propaganda machine known as the mainstream media.

The New American reports, According to the legislation, the new Global Engagement Center should “develop, plan, and synchronize … whole-of-government initiatives to expose and counter foreign propaganda and disinformation directed against United States national security interests and proactively advance fact-based narratives that support United States allies and interests.” It should also work “to establish cooperative or liaison relationships with foreign partners and allies … and other entities, such as academia, nongovernmental organizations, and the private sector.” So even universities, schools, businesses, and non-profit organizations will be harnessed and exploited to promote U.S. government propaganda.

“The passage of this bill in the Senate today takes us one critical step closer to effectively confronting the extensive, and destabilizing, foreign propaganda and disinformation operations being waged against us,” claimed Senator Rob Portman (R-Ohio) on the same day that failed Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton promoted his bill as a way for the U.S. government to respond to “fake news” and alleged propaganda.

“While the propaganda and disinformation threat has grown, the U.S. government has been asleep at the wheel,” continued Portman. “Today we are finally signaling that enough is enough; the United States will no longer sit on the sidelines. We are going to confront this threat head-on. With the help of this bipartisan bill, the disinformation and propaganda used against our allies and our interests will fail.”

The First Amendment has never faced such a threat, as the US government is quite literally shoving completely unconstitutional and tyrannical measures into, of all things, military expenditure provisions.

In an almost script-like fashion, the last 6 months have rolled out an all out attack on independent media, with the catch all phrase being thrown around, “fake news,” at the center of the argument. Now, with Russia being blamed for everything under the Red Sun, the US government uses the Hegelian Dialectic as it always has, to end the journalistic revolution of the independent media once and for all.

Many suspect that out of this bill will come permits or certifications that media outlets without “credentials” must acquire in order to report news. As unbelievable as this may seem now, in the near future and unless we act, this is a reality that could very well be.

The NDAA will now live on in history as what can now be classified as a military industrial monetary provision and mechanism for an attack on liberty, as long winded as it may seem.
